Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg

This is such an amazing book. It has two different stories tied into one. Evelyn Couch becomes friend with an old lady at a nursing home, Ninny Threadgoode who tells the story of the amazing Idgy Threadgoode. The story takes place in the 1960s and focuses on Idgy'd life. She eventually falls in love with Ruth, the only person who could make her feel better and control her after her brother dies. Through many trials the two persist and even though Ruth is left with a tragic end, Idgy lives to the fullest.
