The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
I'm not gonna lie when I first seen this book, I thought to myself I would never read it. The I started reading up on it and finally made the decision yeah I might as well do it. Pretty much a why not moment. I knew that if I didn't like it then I could always go get another book. That's not the case at all. The story is based upon the cops shooting black kids. It doesn't hide behind the glamour that other books have in their settings and themes. It shows how strong of word a person has based upon their race, their name, and where they come from. I really enjoyed this book not just because of the story line, but also because of how it was written. I have not ever had a book that made feel so emotional as this book. It made me realize that this is the kinda everyday stuff that neighborhoods like that go through to just get by. It shows how opposite peoples lives are just based upon where you live. I would recommend this book to people that like realistic fiction, and love spending time with a book.
